Vineyards

Vineyards

Our 12 acres with their multiple slopes offer the ideal air and water drainage, stony soil low in clay, as well as a mix of orientations providing generous direct and indirect sunlight and the all-important big sky. Since we are a high-altitude vineyard (3,300 ft), our growing season is shorter than in warmer areas. On our south-facing slopes, grapes ripen faster and the conditions for sparkling or still European-style Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs are optimal. Our north and northeast-facing slopes are excellent for a varietal like Pinot Gris, which maintains its richness of flavor under cooler conditions, away from harsh sunlight. Our west and southwestern slopes are the hottest, and only the most versatile and robust Rieslings will be able to thrive.
